Bartolome Esteban Murillo Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1617 1682) was a native of Seville, Spain. He was most recognized for his religious paintings. Murillo studied under Juan del Castillo, as well as Velasquez. Later, Murillo served as president of the Seville Academy of Painting. Unfortunately, in 1682, during his work for the high altar of the
