1963 Print Howard Brodie WWII Art Medic Oliver Poythress Soldier Dud 88 Mortar RM4 and sculpturesThis is an original 1963 halftone print of an 88 dud landing behind a medic named Oliver Poythress in Germany (Deutschland). Brodie wrote on the subject, "During the 88 barrage, a dud landed in front of a platoon sergeant, spraying him with dirt. Another ricocheted over the 300 operator and one landed behind a medic. GIs described the duds when we rehashed the attack afterwards." Poythress had stopped a GI from throwing a grenade into a supposed enemy
