They are extinct marine artiopodan arthropods in laymans terms, really cool sea bugs that managed to survive for over three million years; well outliving the dinosaurs. Trilobites had an exoskeleton which defiantly impacted their survival rate. Another fun fact is that some Trilobites had telescopic like eyes with hundreds of miniature eyes
