The figure is shown balancing dramatically on one foot atop the head of Zephyrus, the wind god, with the opposite leg raised behind in a pose emphasizing movement and grace. Hermes wears his characteristic winged helmet and sandals while extending a caduceus overhead. The cylindrical pedestal is richly decorated with relief panels
