This sweet carved soapstone turtle seems to me a wonderful little thing to keep on one's desk or shelf as a reminder to take your time--I really can't imagine a truer embodiment of slowness

with a bit of light foxing/spotting visible ob the pale blue ground at upper right

He exhibited at the Royal Academy 1815 – 43 and from 1842 styled himself Miniature Painter to the King of Hanover

this thing makes me really happy--and even if one occasionally has an issue with the US Postal Service

There are other examples out there, which it seems most apt to describe as a form of trench art, since from what I've found they were limited to portraits of soldiers, who decorated the borders around their portraits, as here (those flourishes embedded in the print, not drawn on top.) I really love the effect, executed
