White on White Bird and Butterfly, Unusual Antique Folk Art Raised Cutwork dutch sampler Why and whyI don't think I've seen an example of quite this sort before this bird and butterfly scratched into the surface of the white card with a fine knife, working at an angle to riase the surface of the card, creating a relief design. Barely there, but very much there, traceable with one's finger as well as with one's eye. 5 1 8" x 2 15 16". Good condition, with some light scattered smudges and stains, all of a piece with it.
