Septarian Stone - Egg collector calcite Chemical Composition: SiO₂ + Fe₂O₃Mined from: Madagascar Description: Septarian stones are unique and beautiful limestone nodules with intricately spiderwebbed cracks of calcite running through them. They form when the cracks within sedimentary calcite nodules are filled with calcium carbonate rich water, which slowly crystallizes into black calcite. The calcite is highly UV reactive, glowing a bright yellow color under UV. The color inversion from black to yellow is quite striking!
