This is a very nice "privately purchased" example of a U. S. Civil war brown leather flap holster, designed to fit the larger percussion revolvers of the day. This included the Colt Army and Navy revolvers, the Remington Army, and several others. The holster is made from top grade leather with all of its original stitching still intact and tight. It was designed to be worn "Butt Forward" on the right hip for use with
