The lock is also dated 1863 and marked REMINGTON'S ILION

Acquired from the Strakaty Collection of Vienna, Austria. A very fine example of a Revolutionary War era British officer's pistol bearing silver mounts and both a brass barrel and brass lockplate, making it ideal for naval use. The pistol was made by KETLAND & CO. who originated in Birmingham England in 1740 but opened a location in London in 1760, the company stayed in business until 1804. The brass lock plate is fitted
