however there are now only remnants around the lower inner edge of the cap

This is a very nice service used example of a WWII German Red Cross (DRK) Officer's Brocade Dress Belt Buckle (Koppelschlo). This buckle features multi piece aluminum construction, with a 50mm, slightly convex, round central portion, with a clip on the back, and still has the box loop attached to the back. Also included is the matching box loop with size adjustment clip for the other side of the belt. The front of
