I'd think 19th century for sure

7 1/2" x 5 1/2" I think maybe tempera on wood panel

I believe it was likely made as a tourist souvenir

and certainly a useful and satisfying place to sit

Beautiful Old Faithful c. 1920s Box of Chalk brass button guard I'd think 19th century forThis is the second box of Old Faithful "Sterling" chalk I've found, and I'll keep buying them when I found them, as much to look at as to use. Though not quite as fine as the American Crayon Company's "Waltham" chalk, sold for just "a trifle more" as noted on one side of the box, it's pretty fabulous chalk definitely incentive to find an old slate chalkboard if one doesn't have on already. I especially love the gently tapering shape with rounded tip
