which I think just make it look as if he's been through the snow

but the skillfulness of the carving and beauty of the wood make it feel like quite an elegant thing

Really a pretty perfect thing. Done as a school exercise I would guess, and I believe vintage rather than antique, maybe 1940s or so. 11 7 8 x 8 7 8. Black ink on construction type paper.
