this is unsigned and I don’t know who painted it

which I purchased from a wonderful paper dealer from upstate New York at the Papertown show in Boxborough

which was placed on a chair to photograph--perhaps a full plate daguerreotype

the equivalent to "foo dogs" in Chinese culture) repeating around the perimeter of both top and bottom halves of the box

it reveals itself slowly

Time Stopped: Antique Handblown Glass Hourglass with No Armature northern california this is unsigned and II know this is an old one, as I found it along with remnants of an antique hand cut tin lattice sleeve, which would have held it to make it usable (no longer the case.) Which made me realize how lovely an object a liberated (and thwarted) hourglass is when set on its side formally and metaphorically resonant in all sorts of ways! 2 1 2" long. Hand blown, with pontils at either end, and satisfying pinkish brown sand. Nice patina to the surface of the
