The base has maker's mark of R in a circle and the pewter lid displays SS symbol to thumb catch and the lid cover is also engraved Meine Ehre Heißt Treue ("My honour is loyalty") over SS symbol to center over Sieg Heil (Hail Victory) beneath

It features a steel four branch guard with an unusual Federal eagle motif, a ribbed wooden grip with traces of its original dark finish, a heavily polished blade with remnants of period etching, and a steel scabbard
