The lid has an engraved silver plaque which Royal Flying Corps (RFC) wing insignia and reads:TOMAJOR SHEKLETONA GREATFUL APPRECIATIONFROMOFFICERS OF 28 SQUADRONSEPT 1916No

but unfortunately have not identified

just some rust and missing paint

so it most likely was intended for hanging on a wall

which later became part of the Netherlands

This is a very nice pewter small dish, or possibly a saucer, measuring 4 1 2" in diameter. It is clearly marked H. M. S SUPRERB 1798 on the top, indicating service on this vessel during the Napoleonic Wars. Given the extremely small bowl portion of the dish, we assume it was for small portions or sides, or possibly just a saucer to go under a drink.
