It looks to have been silver plated and then had a blue plating applied

This is an excellent example of an original trench fighting knife with scabbard, as used by the Germans in WWI. The design features a full tang with an all wood ribbed hilt secured by two pins. The knife has a single edged drop point knife of 5 3 4", with a false edge on the top. It is marked DEMAG in a circle in front of the steel cross guard on the blade ricasso. The marking is only partially struck, but is clear,
