5 7/8" t x 1 3/16" w x 1 5/8" d

A few small edge chips here and there and a little a little greening to the brass pins

I believe it was likely a burning tool that was used to render this wide eyed owl on fungus conk--making it feel more as if this owl is emerging from within than imposed on top

I am not entirely certain if this doll is vintage or antique

I would guess this sensitive portrait dates to the mid 19th century or so

Signed Palmer at lower left, it seems possible to me that this was done by Apache artist Ignatius Palmer (1922 1985), who studied at the Santa Fe Indian School and is best known for painting of Apache dancers; the signature here is a close match and both the subject and style seem plausible.
