This is a very nice example of the scarce WWII T38 Bunker telephone. The set consists of the phone with the attached handset, and the battery pack, which is almost never present on these. The phone was used as a "bunker" phone. Not a field phone. The battery box supplied a 1. 5 to 3 volt charge to the carbon microphone.
