The carving looks to have been done a good many years ago

Then the monogram WM carved into the lid--as clearly this was a precious thing

And with a teacher's grade on each

The Apple Pickers, Wonderful Antique Real Photo Postcard west and lee which is pretty firm butI love this photo SO MUCH, found near Lake George in upstate NY this week, portraying three apple pickers, who look as if themselves born of this very dense and loaded apple tree, with the fruits of their labors the their feet. With the woman partially camouflaged behind the branches, and the younger man in the tree almost entirely so. All with wonderfully straight lipped faces and looking as if they've lived very hard working lives. Fantastic. 5 7
