This is a nice example of a U. S. M1917 "Doughboy" helmet, which features original period textured OD Green paint and a blue shield with the Cross of Lorraine inside, denoting the 79th Division, AEF. The shell is maker marked with a stamping on the underside of the rim that reads ZC 74, an early lot number for this particular maker.
