This is an very good condition late war "last ditch" issue example of the classic Type 92 Tetsubo (鉄帽 - "steel cap")

and there is a size 53 stamped on the other side

This is an excellent example of a genuine British Mark II steel helmet, which came to us with a tale of having been found in an Italian Barn sometime in the 1960s. We have no way of validating this other than word of mouth. The stamping on the underside of the shell is worn away and cant be found, as British Manufactured helmets were often marked before they were stamped, which stretches out the markings. This helmet
