The Gold Close Combat Clasp was often regarded in higher esteem than the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross by the German infantry
and had lunch and sat for a considerable time on the veranda at the Eagles Nest in the picture in this book marked "Eagles Nest - lookout into the mountains" (3rd page from the end)
Fitted with a single edged and a slight Bowie styled blade this is an original fighting knife used by the Germans in WW1 and then again in WW2
In wonderful almost untouched condition beautifully preserved with at least 125 years of age making this a most unique and desirable collector's item
The simplified model was designated Stielhandgranate 43 and it was announced in the "Heerestechnische Verordnungsblatt" dated 1 May 1944

This is a very nice genuine medal bar, owned by a German soldier who fought during WWI, and was apparently from the Duchy of Brunswick (Braunschweig). He then served again during WWII, earning additional decorations. The colors on some of the ribbons are slightly due to wear and age, but it is still a very attractive piece. The set of 4 medals offered in good condition is mounted on a metal backing board with pin and
