There also looks to have been some moth damage to the tri color cockade

It still retains its aircraft sights so no ladder back sight is needed or present and the wood fore end is a modified original British Thompson fore stock completely checkered in the British style with sling swivel on the left side which is held in place with a British WW2 Thompson Fore Stock ring bracket

German manufactured, these are steel basket belt carriers which attach to the feed tray assemblies of the MG 34 or MG 42, held in the correct Transport frame. Each carrier contains one 50 round belt as well as a starter tab. The Transport frame has original WWII period hand painted Panzergrau paint, with what looks to be DAK tan underneath.
