This is an excellent example of a U. S. M1917 "Doughboy" helmet, which features original textured paint and painted Unit Insignia on the front and side. Unfortunately, or however you wish to view it, the helmet appears to have been repainted black with an added WWI era Eagle, Globe and Anchor more than likely for American Legion purposes. The shell is maker marked with a stamping on the underside of the rim that
