This is a fine example of a WWII dated U. S. Navy Coston Sedgley 37mm Parachute Signal Flare Pistol, with a 7 1 2 inch alloy barrel. These were made in various configurations by R. F. Sedgley Inc. of Philadelphia. The flare pistol is marked on the left side of the barrel and barrel base with the maker and date information: COSTON SEDGLEY PARACHUTE SIGNAL PISTOL PHILA. PA. U. S. A.
