and I guess the pair of wonderfully snake-like recessed forms at the top represent hooks or perhaps clasps that would have been forged on it

some detailed with veins that simultaneously read as whisps of hair framing each face

A ball, or the world itself, captured in mid air, and our girl is poised and ready to smack it and set it aloft again. Feels right for the moment (one hopes!) and just right. 4 7 16" x 3 1 4" and in very good condition.
