This is an outstanding set of two pairs of American epaulettes worn during the 1840s and 1860s. One set is maker marked to W. H. Horstmann & Son of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first set is a great pair of enlisted mens epaulettes worn during the Mexican American War (1846 1848). They both were stamped with an ink marking on the reverse reading: W. H. HORSTMANN & SON. PHILADELPHIA, P. A. They have minimal
