This is a very nice serving spoon, taken from the office of Gauleiter Fritz Sauckel, who was the leader of Gau (district) Thuringia in NSDAP Germany. From what we can tell, the silverware and other artifacts were taken from Sauckel's Gau Headquarters in Weimar in April 1945, by a member of the American Third Army. Sauckel had fled the city by car on April 10, 1945, only a day after declaring Weimar a fortress city
