Original U.S. Indian War Period 1881 Pattern Dress Helmet for Mounted Cavalry with Photo Plate Spanish Flags 5” across at the topOriginal Item: Only One Available. This is a pattern 1881 U. S. Dress helmet with white horsehair plume which represented mounted cavalry. It is a black felt dress helmet, with patent leather edging and hat band. The gold plated, brass helmet plate, consists of the U. S. Eagle and Shield insignia. The eagle has arrows (broken) in left talon and olive branch in right talon. The crown has the white horse hair plume and there are gold side buttons. Felt
