This is a lovely German Krimschild (Crimea Shield) award, with a lovely metal shield attached to a 3"W x 5"H cutoff piece of Heer Army feldgrau (field gray) uniform. It is a worn "whipcord" pattern piece as used on field service tunics, and is very roughly cut, typical of a "field captured" example. It has lost the original backing plate and clips, and was modified in service to be retained by fabric loops on the
