and elsewhere some scattered stains and smudges

but also for its great old green paint and the surprise of five smaller slide top boxes fit nearly inside--surely intended for holding lures

Found in it is a fine antique watercolor

19th Century Needlepoint (with Petit Point) Boy with Dog in Period Frame antique ivory egg I don't know a lotA nice old needlepoint, mid 19th century I believe, in period frame, original to it it appears. Executed in hand dyed wool, with petit point (tiny stitches) used for the face of the boy (with excellent pinked cheeks.) And quite the little master he appears, waving his whip overhead but clearly his very sweet looking giant dog companion could trounce him if desired, so I take this as a portrait of mis guided youthful hubris! 8 1 2" x 7 3 4" framed;
