The grip plates are the black checkered variety and are in excellent condition throughout

This medal and Bronze Star citation came together in the same envelope but as the medal is not engraved we don't know who on the citation to which it belonged

This design was based on the BRITISH LIGHT CAVALRY SWORD of 1796. It was this sword that Napoleon himself complained about, stating that the shape of the blade made the tip especially vicious and therefore was an affront to humanity. The Prussians, Britain's allies in the Napoleonic wars, immediately adopted this pattern, which ever since is commonly referred to as the "Blcher Sabel" named for the Prussian Commander
