Memorial To A Marriage (2002) portraying the artist and her artist wife Deborah Kass recumbent in an entwined embrace on a bed
the drawing unpacks as a wonderful portrait of impotence and thwarted desire
Quite beautifully and concisely constructed
was really earnest about and committed to them
There is a single hinge on the back which is tightly attached and works great
Man in Carriage, Horse with Hidden Head, Fantastic Tree and Fantasy Architecture, Nancy Linton's c. 1880s Ink Drawing topsy turvy drawings Memorial To A Marriage (2002)Such a delight! I know from the New England dealer I purchased this from that the Nancy Linton who signed it (quite proudly!) was Nancy Isabel Linton, born 1868 in Charlotte, New Brunswick, in and around where she lived her whole life. (d. 1935). I would guess she drew this during her school years, early mid 1880s, and love everything about it our Nancy was not afraid of bold gestures, and I imagine her as a young woman with a mind very much her own!
