I think magic lantern "slip" slides are really fun--a very simple early mechanical means of creating a changing image

The quilt-like square one is solid yellow on the back

I love the mix of dogs and cats and horses among them

it makes sense that its role here be most important as a handy convenient stepping stone for getting a better look at whatever's out there in the distance

Great old paint, white over flesh tone, with the wood showing through in beautiful ways, and revealing carved fingernails, too. One finder lost along the way, but who cares? Approx 7 1 4" l x 3 1 4" w x 1 3 4" t. Paint chippy but not much actively chipping; sound and not fragile.
