A Military Long Service Decoration, II Class for Officers for 40 Years, c.1900 visually-hidden the reverse with the inscription(Militrdienstzeichen II Klasse fr Offiziere fr 40 Jahre). Instituted September 19, 1849. Type III (1890 1913). In bronze gilt, a cross pattee with partially black enamelled arms, with superimposed gilt eagle in the center, the reverse is plain with a lightly etched border around the cross, unmarked, measures 28. 6 mm (w) x 32. 3 mm (h), worn on original trifold ribbon, enamels intact, light gilt wear, extremely fine. Contained in a red pebbled case
