The cap is fully surrounded by fold down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. Visible on the peak is the unmistakable outline of an SS style German national eagle insignia which, having been carefully removed, is lost to time. Directly below the outline, the front of the walls similarly demonstrates the careful removal of an SS
