A clump forming, mint family member that grows typically to 2 4' tall. The leaves have a minty fragrance, especially when crushed. Tubular, red flowers appear in dense tufts. Each flower head rests above a whorl of showy, reddish, leafy bracts. Flowers are attractive to hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. The aromatic leaves are
