Owney Madden, a gangster from Rockaway Beach, is the inspiration behind Owney's Rum from Noble Experiment Distillery. Founder Bridget Firtle named it after the rum runner who had an estate in Rockaway in NYC, home to her parents' longstanding bar as well.
