Footnote: A badge of the Kampfgeschwader 3, the so called Blitz unit, a Luftwaffe bomber wing, operational between 1939 and 1944. Top: bird with wings spread holding a swastika. Middle: a crest with a bolt of lightning striking it (the units crest that gave it the nickname Blitz). Bottom: inscription KG 3 (BlitzGeschw.),
