Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A War Medal, Galipoli Star Newly Listed maker marked "D" on the(Harp Madalyas). Instituted in 1915. Cast silvered metal with red patination, Turkish made, ball finials on the tips of the star points, measuring 56. 2 mm (w) x 54. 5 mm (h), horizontal pinback, tiny chip in the red patination on the tip of the star point at 12 o'clock, the remaining patination intact, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Gallipolli Star was a military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire. It is also known as the Ottoman War Medal.
